Heshmat Tabarzadi Political Activist Announcement

Iranian political activist Heshmatollah Tabarzadi said in a video he uploaded to his Instagram on March 24, 2020 that Iran's main enemy is the coronavirus, and he sharply criticized the way the Iranian regime, which he said is unworthy and irresponsible, has been handling the pandemic. Saying that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is becoming increasingly delusional, Tabarzadi criticized Khamenei's recent statements that the coronavirus outbreak is part of a joint conspiracy by humans and demons against Iran and that any attempt by the U.S. to give aid to Iran is actually an attempt to spy on it (see MEMRI TV Clip No. 7887 Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: U.S. Is Accused of Creating the Coronavirus, It Would Be Unreasonable for Us to Accept Assistance from It, March 22, 2020).

Tabarzadi further said that President Hassan Rouhani is even more irresponsible than Khamenei, and he criticized Iran's refusal to accept international aid despite shortages, as well as Iran's recent deportation of a team of doctors from Doctors Without Borders.

Tabarzadi warned that if Rouhani and Iran's senior officials do not stop their obstinacy, the Iranian people will destroy the presidential palace and bring it down on the heads of these officials. Calling on his compatriots to be ready for when the word goes out, he threatened: "We will track down their address and go there... If we are meant to die in our homes, we might as well die an honorable death."

A big lie of Mullahs' Illegitimate Regime, to hide its abject backwardness, was Exposed by the Free world Press.

The ship called Konarak, that was hit recently by a missile in Persian Gulf, and killed 19 seamen, was built by the Dutch (Holland) shipbuilder, in 1988, and then was refitted by the mullahs’ illegitimate regime, in 2018.

The illegitimate regime of mafia godfather Akhond Ali Khamenei falsely claimed two years ago that this ship was entirely made by IRI, when this mafia regime's godfather himself and Akhond Hassan Rowhani participated in an event with fanfare and propaganda, falsely claiming that this ship was home made.

These types of big lies are used by the illegitimate regime to cover-up their extreme technical backwardness, and the fact that they are unable to make even a screwdriver, and are culturally living in the Dark Ages of technological ignorance.

The medieval Ayatollahs and mullahs, and their illiterate ignorant bodyguards, the terrorist militia the Pasdaran cutthroat thugs are using examples of the life and manners of Bedouins, that lived in 7th century AD.

Same big shameless lie was repeated with the fake news about the launching of a fake satellite, without control room!

Iran blasts: What is behind mysterious fires at key sites?

BBC
https://www.bbc.com/

Image
The fire at Natanz is reported to have set back Iran's nuclear programme

Just after midnight on 30 June, an email dropped into my inbox. It claimed to be from an unknown group calling itself the Homeland Cheetahs.

The group said it had attacked the major Iranian nuclear site at Natanz some two hours earlier, at 02:00 local time. In the detailed message, it claimed it had blown up a facility and that the Iranian regime would not be able to hide it.

The group said it was composed of dissidents within Iran's military and security forces and that they had been behind numerous attacks that the Iranian authorities had so far concealed from the public.

I went online to check Iranian news agencies and reliable accounts on social media, but I found no mention of such an attack anywhere.

Several hours later, Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation announced there had been an incident at the Natanz nuclear plant, but they ruled out sabotage.

Image

The next day, Iran's Supreme National Security Council - its top security body - announced that it knew what caused the "incident" at Natanz but that "for security reasons" it would not for the time being say what this was.

Nasa satellite images showed there had been a fire at Natanz at 02:06. The damage corresponded with details contained in the email from the Homeland Cheetahs.

The group's message had been carefully crafted and included a propaganda video about attacks on strategic sites it said it had carried out inside Iran.

Preparing this kind of statement and video requires hours, if not days, of planning. Whoever authored it knew about the Natanz explosion in advance, which supports the theory that it was an act of sabotage.

But there is also the possibility that the email was an elaborate attempt to mislead us as to who was behind the attack, and could actually be the work of foreign agents posing as opponents of the regime in Iran.

Attack 'thwarted'

The group's name, the Homeland Cheetahs, is similar to those of other "Iranian" cyber groups, such as Persian Cat, or Charming Kitten - teams of hackers believed to be part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Cyber Army.

It is possible that the Homeland Cheetahs were born to confront the Persian Cat.

Israel says it foiled an attempt to sabotage its water system

In late May, national cyber security in Israel - Iran's arch-foe - said the country had prevented a major cyber attack on its water system, widely thought to have been the work of Iran.

Days later, there was a cyber attack on Shahid Rajaae, an important economic and shipping hub in southern Iran.

More than 50% of Iran's sea imports and exports take place through this harbour. The attack caused a massive blockage of water in the canals and flooded roads leading to the terminal.

Iranian officials blamed power shortages, but Western intelligence sources believe it was Israeli retaliation against Iran.

Fires and blasts

In the past three months there have been an increasing number of mysterious incidents which have damaged sensitive sites in Iran.

Numerous fires have broken out in nuclear facilities, oil refineries, power plants, major factories and businesses across the country.

Image
A clinic which carried out surgeries and medical imaging was hit by a blast in June

Since 26 June alone, there have been several such incidents:

26 June: Blast at a liquid fuel production facility for ballistic missiles in Khojir, close to Parchin, near Tehran; fire at power plant in Shiraz, causing a blackout

30 June: Explosion at a medical clinic in Tehran, 19 people killed

2 July: Blast and fire at Natanz nuclear site

3 July: Large fire in Shiraz

4 July: Explosion and fire in power plant in Ahwaz; chlorine gas leak at Karoun petrochemical plant in Mahshahr

Saeed Aganji, a Finland-based Iranian journalist who has been following the events, says the incidents are unusual and could be deliberate.

"By targeting Iran strategic and economic sites, the aim is to bring Iran's economy to its knees and force the regime to stop financing militia groups and change course in the Middle East."

Parchin and Khojir are two military sites believed to house nuclear and missile production facilities on the eastern edge of Tehran.

Video of Blast
https://twitter.com/bbcpersian/status/1 ... 9384389634

Inspectors from the global nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), have long been denied access to Parchin, where Iran is suspected of having conducted high-explosive tests related to the manufacture of nuclear weapons.

Iran warning

In a rare acknowledgement, Iran's state news agency Irna said the fire at Natanz could have been the result of sabotage "by hostile countries, especially the Zionist regime [Israel] and the US".

Iran's civil defence chief has vowed to "respond" if it turns out Iran was the victim of a cyber attack.

Image
Iran denies charges that it is seeking to develop nuclear weapons

On Sunday, an unnamed "Middle Eastern intelligence official" told the New York Times Israel had caused the blast at Natanz. Just a day earlier, Israel's foreign minister responded obliquely when asked if Israel was behind the incident, saying "our actions in Iran better left unsaid".

Israel does not normally take responsibility for these kinds of "attacks", and Iranian officials have avoided blaming Israel directly. But it seems the cyber war between the two countries has already started.

Power Outages Reported in Tehran After Another Mysterious Explosion

Breitbart News
https://www.breitbart.com/

Image

Another mysterious explosion – a series of them, according to some sources – rocked Tehran on Thursday night, knocking out the power along the western edge of the city.

While Iranian officials characteristically rushed to deny that any explosions occurred or dismissed the incident as the latest in a string of minor industrial accidents, eyewitnesses and local media reported the blasts appear to have struck a missile storage facility used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC is a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.

Iranian state media quoted social media users who reported hearing the explosions to the west of Tehran and in the nearby cities of Garmdareh and Quds. Those areas soon reported power outages, although the governor of Quds insisted there had been no explosion and the power was only out for a few minutes.

“Along with the denial of the explosion, Iranian media reported that the mayor of Garmdareh had stated that the explosion was caused by gas tanks, but it was later discovered that the quoted mayor had died over a year ago and that the quoted news was from years ago,” the Jerusalem Post noted on Friday, translating a report from the Independent Persian.

“Iranian media had also reported that a security official in the region had attributed the explosion to highway construction, but it was later discovered that the quoted news was from over two years ago,” the Jerusalem Post added.

More confusing reports quoted local witnesses who said they heard no explosions but experienced a much longer power outage than the five minutes claimed by the governor of Qods (who, unlike the mayor of Garmdareh, was still alive as of Friday morning) and the fire chief of Qods, who said no explosions or other disaster incidents had been reported in the past 24 hours.

Apparently, the fire chief did not hear the wailing sirens reported by i24 News on Thursday evening. The i24 report quoted an account of multiple explosions from Iran’s Mehr News Agency, plus a claim by Saudi Arabia’s Al-Arabiya News that the explosions occurred at the missile depot in an IRGC military base. Deutsche Welle cited a report that different explosions were heard in Tehran, Garmdareh, and Qods.

The incident is the latest in a series of mystery explosions and fires at sites linked to Iran’s nuclear missile program, including a fire at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility on July 2. Iranian officials initially dismissed the fire as a minor workplace malfunction that lightly damaged a tool shed that was still under construction, but satellite photos clearly showed the damage was much more severe.

On Wednesday, the Iranian regime finally admitted the fire inflicted significant damage to the Natanz uranium centrifuge production facility, and finally began muttering about a deliberate campaign of sabotage that demanded an international response. Several Middle Eastern security officials have stated they believe the Israelis sabotaged the facility with a very powerful bomb.

The regime still has not conceded the full extent of the damage at Natanz, which appears to have destroyed almost three-quarters of the main centrifuge assembly hall, damaging that crucial installation so severely that a tear-down and rebuild may be required.

Iran’s nuclear facilities are mysteriously under attack

FOX News
https://www.foxnews.com/

Iran's nuclear facilities have been under attack for weeks, but it's still unclear by whom

Black smoke rose as flames engulfed the Shahid Tondgooyan petrochemical plant in the Khuzestan province of Iran late Sunday afternoon.

Hours earlier, more than 500 miles away, detonations rocked the basement of an old, nondescript home in a northern pocket of Tehran. The two-story dwelling was said to have housed at least 30 gas cylinders that were used for unclear purposes.

Both incidents came fewer than two days after a string of explosions – and power outages – were reported west of Tehran in the early hours of Friday. Local reports indicated that multiple “mortar-like sounds similar to anti-aircraft missiles” were heard.

The blasts reportedly took place at an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) missile depot.

While some Iranian officials denied the outbursts altogether, and others quoted a former mayor – who reportedly died more than a year ago – as saying it was caused by gas tanks, experts said there is something bizarre at play across the beleaguered country.

These most recent attacks happened on the heels of multiple other mysterious explosions at sensitive sites over the course of the last three weeks – and no one is precisely sure what is going on, other than its rattling of the regime and stymying its controversial nuclear program.

"The tempo and tenor of the recent explosions in Iran have been unusual. There is evidence of a concerted campaign underway to thwart Iran's nuclear program," Jason Brodsky, Policy Director of United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), told Fox News. "The more Iran advances its nuclear program in violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the greater the likelihood for additional strikes."

Image
Fire in Iran’s Tondgooyan Petrochemical Plant

He continued: "Additionally, Tehran is distracted by the coronavirus and economic problems. The public is increasingly disenchanted with the regime's ability to govern the country. The conditions are ripe for additional kinetic activity."

The first enigmatic hit happened on June 26 at a known liquid fuel production center that makes ballistic missiles in Khojir, near Parchin, southeast of the capital. Despite a downplaying by officials, satellite images later emerged to show extensive damage on an arsenal of gas tanks, along with an entire hillside blackened in the blast.

This Friday, June 26, 2020, photo combo from the European Commission's Sentinel-2 satellite shows the site of an explosion, before, left, and after, right, that rattled Iran’s capital. Analysts say the blast came from an area in Tehran’s eastern mountains that hides a underground tunnel system and missile production sites. The explosion appears to have charred hundreds of meters of scrubland. (European Commission via AP)

Two days later, on July 2, the notorious Natanz uranium enrichment plant – which became active in 2018 as Iran's principal place to develop centrifuges required to produce uranium and other nuclear weapons were in-development – was struck by a mammoth blast, as confirmed by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

Tehran conceded that a severe attack had impaired an "industrial shed," and AEOI officials acknowledged to the Iranian media that the blow had "set back Iran's nuclear program by months."

According to an analysis by the Kuwait-based publication Al-Jarida, the target of the assault was the UF6 gas – uranium hexafluoride – which Iran uses to infuse into its most advanced IR-6 centrifuges – of which 80 percent has been decimated as a result of the attack.

Then, on July 3, an unexplained fire erupted at a power plant in the southwest city of Shiraz, triggering a power outage in the region.

The next day, yet another explosion and inferno tore through a power plant in Ahwaz, while at the same time, a chlorine gas leak was detected at a Karoun petrochemical plant in Mahshahr, about 75 miles away.

"While one can never ignore the potential for an accident or gross incompetence, the locations of these explosions coupled with the increasing number of things exploding in the last few weeks does make a strong case for this being foreign sabotage," underscored Behnam Ben Taleblu, a senior fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD). "Let's not forget, they are all occurring on or near, nuclear, missile, or military installations."

Nonetheless, a swirl of suspicion continues to linger around the series of seemingly harmonized attacks, with many suspecting Israel – and the United States – as pulling strings.

But adding to the peculiarity, BBC Persian reported that just after midnight on June 30, some of its journalists received an email from a group purporting to be the "Homeland Cheetahs" – comprised of anti-government, underground dissidents – claiming credit for earlier attacks. The outlet also said they were informed of the Natanz attack hours before it was documented by officials.

Image

Several intelligence sources told Fox News that they had never heard of the outfit prior to the BBC's report, and suspected it to be a ruse or a front for a much more sophisticated operation.

While almost all experts conclude that the attacks that have occurred are physical, some say cyber warfare may additionally play a part – especially given that Natanz was targeted by the infamous Stuxnet malware kindled by Israel and the U.S. in 2010. That attack successfully crippled controls at the site by altering the spin cycles of the centrifuges and left scientists scratching their heads.

"Although many are asking the question, was this a cyber-attack or physical sabotage, the answer could be 'both.' The most likely suspects are the U.S. and Israel working in tandem. Both countries have very sophisticated cyber warfare units and significant capabilities when it comes to cyber-kinetic attacks," explained David Kennedy, CEO of TrustedSec and a former NSA and Marine Corps cyber-intelligence expert. "An attack of this magnitude would require a great deal of planning and preparation, and is very complex because you are exploiting industrial control systems and air-gapped devices."

In this photo released by the official website of the office of the Iranian supreme leader, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivers his sermon in the Friday prayers at Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque in Tehran, Iran, Friday, Jan. 17, 2020. Iran's supreme leader said President Donald Trump is a "clown" who only pretends to support the Iranian people but will "push a poisonous dagger" into their backs, as he struck a defiant tone in his first Friday sermon in Tehran in eight years. (Office of the Iranian Supreme Leader via AP)

eff Bardin, CIO of security firm Treadstone 71, concurred that their assessment "indicates this was a physical attack likely with cyber used for reconnaissance and support."

"The explosion was far beyond what is believed cyber sabotage could have created," he said. "If Iran complains too loudly that adversaries destroyed their nuclear weapons development, the IAEA and the world will want a local inspection – Iran has claimed they are not creating nuclear weapons. If they complain too loudly, we can confirm those locations for nuclear weapons development. If Iranian authorities claim adversary actions occurred, internally, they look weak, where they already suffer a lack of confidence. If they openly respond, they risk more attacks."

Experts have also pointed to the glaring holes in Tehran's intelligence apparatus – essentially allowing its country's most guarded sites to be slaughtered with convention weapons, with little means of foiling it or fighting back.

"Tehran has not yet retaliated for the Natanz explosion. (But) I would expect to see an uptick in Iranian cyber operations against the U.S., Israel, and our Mideast allies like Saudi Arabia, but I don't expect a serious conflagration," Kennedy surmised. "The Iranians have suffered a major setback to their nuclear program and their domestic security. They've been badly embarrassed. And the truth is, they may not know the full extent of what happened in that attack. They also don't know what else is coming."

At Least Seven Ships Caught Fire at Southern Iranian Port, Local Media Reports

Haaretz
https://www.haaretz.com/

Incident comes amid several explosions and fires around Iranian military, nuclear and industrial facilities in recent months

At least seven ships have caught fire at the Iranian port of Bushehr, the Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday, in what appeared to be the latest in a series of unexplained incidents around nuclear and industrial installations since late June.

No casualties have been reported, the agency said.

Plumes of dense black smoke billowed into the air, in a photograph of the incident published by the official IRNA news agency. State broadcaster IRIB showed fighters tackling clouds of smoke at a shipyard at the southern port on the Gulf.

There have been several explosions and fires around Iranian military, nuclear and industrial facilities since late June, including a fire at Iran's underground Natanz nuclear facility, the centerpiece of the country's uranium enrichment programme, which authorities said had caused significant damage.

In an article in early July, state news agency IRNA addressed what it called the possibility of sabotage by enemies such as Israel and the United States, although it stopped short of accusing either directly. Israel's defence minister said on July 5 his country was not "necessarily" behind every mysterious incident in Iran.

On Friday, an explosion was heard in western Tehran, the official IRIB news agency reported, citing online reports.

IRIB did not provide any additional information about the cause of the blast or possible casualties. Electricity was cut in the area of the explosion in suburbs west of Tehran, IRIB reported.

In addition, two people were killed in an explosion at a factory in the south of Tehran, IRNA reported on Tuesday. Also last week, 19 people were killed in an explosion at a medical clinic in the north of Tehran, which an official said was caused by a gas leak.

On June 26, an explosion occurred east of Tehran near the Parchin military and weapons development base that authorities said was caused by a leak at a gas storage facility in an area outside the base.

Bushehr port: Seven ships ablaze in latest Iran mystery fires

BBC
https://www.bbc.com/

At least seven boats have caught fire at a shipyard in the port of Bushehr in southern Iran, state media report.

The head of the local crisis management organisation told Irna news agency that the blaze had been contained and that no casualties had been reported.

The cause was not clear, but it is the latest in a series of mysterious incidents in Iran in recent weeks.

They have included explosions and fires at a missile facility, a power plant, a medical clinic and a nuclear complex.

The incidents have led to speculation about a campaign of sabotage.

On Monday, there was a fire at an industrial zone near the north-eastern city of Mashhad. Officials said six gas storage tanks caught fire, and that one exploded.

The previous day, a fire broke out at a petrochemical facility in the south-western Mahshahr area which was blamed on an oil leak.

And on Saturday, several gas cylinders exploded inside the basement of an apartment building in Tehran, the capital's fire department said.

Iranian officials have said they are looking into whether sabotage by foreign powers or domestic opposition groups may have been the cause of earlier blasts at the Natanz uranium enrichment plant on 2 July and the Khojir missile production facility on 26 June.

In 2010, a computer virus widely believed to have been developed by the United States and Israel was used to attack machinery at Natanz.

Explosion hits another power plant in Iran

CBS News
https://www.cbsnews.com/

An explosion hit a power plant in the central Iranian province of Isfahan on Sunday, state news agency IRNA reported, saying it was over faulty equipment and caused no casualties. A "worn out transformer... at Isfahan's Islamabad thermal power plant exploded at around 5:00 am today," the managing director of Isfahan's electricity company Said Mohseni told the agency.

The facility returned to normal working conditions after about two hours and Isfahan's power supply was uninterrupted, he added.

The incident is the latest in a string of fires and explosions at military and civilian sites across Iran in recent weeks.

Two explosions rocked Tehran in late June, one near a military site and the other in a health center, the latter killing 19 people.

Fires or blasts also hit a shipyard in southern Iran last week, a factory south of Tehran with two dead and the Natanz nuclear complex in central Iran earlier this month.

Iranian authorities called the Natanz fire an accident without elaborating and later said they would not reveal the cause, citing "security reasons."

The string of fires and explosions have prompted speculation in Iran that they may be the result of sabotage by arch enemy Israel.

The Jewish state accuses the Islamic republic of seeking to acquire a nuclear bomb while Tehran insists its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.

Fires or blasts also hit a shipyard in southern Iran last week, a factory south of Tehran with two dead and the Natanz nuclear complex in central Iran earlier this month.

Iranian authorities called the Natanz fire an accident without elaborating and later said they would not reveal the cause, citing "security reasons".

The string of fires and explosions have prompted speculation in Iran that they may be the result of sabotage by arch-enemy Israel.

The Jewish state accuses the Islamic republic of seeking to acquire a nuclear bomb while Tehran insists its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful.

Iran Accused of Torturing Hundreds Following 2019 Protests

Breitbart News
https://www.breitbart.com/

(AFP) NICOSIA, Cyprus — Amnesty International on Wednesday accused Iran’s security forces of using torture to extract confessions, saying hundreds of people have been jailed since a sweeping crackdown against protests last year.

Demonstrations erupted across Iran in November 2019 after a major petrol price hike, but they were put down by security forces with mass arrests amid a near-total internet blackout.

Amnesty said it had gathered dozens of testimonies from the 7,000 people it estimated were arrested, which included children as young as 10.

The accounts reveal “a catalogue of shocking human rights violations, including arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, torture and other ill-treatment,” the London-based human rights group said.

Those arrested were tortured into “confessions” of involvement in the protests, membership of opposition groups or contact with foreign governments and media, it added.

Torture and other ill-treatment by police, intelligence operatives and others “was widespread,” the rights group said.

Amnesty said it had recorded the names of more than 500 people “subjected to unfair criminal proceedings in connection with the protests.”

“Hundreds have since been sentenced to prison terms and flogging and several to the death penalty following grossly unfair trials which were presided over by biased judges behind closed doors,” Amnesty said.

Prison sentences ranged from one month to 10 years, the report said.

Torture techniques included water boarding, beating, electric shocks, pepper spraying genitals, sexual violence, mock executions and pulling out finger and toe nails, Amnesty reported.

“It felt like my entire body was being pierced with millions of needles,” one man allegedly tortured with electricity told Amnesty.

Another man said he was suspended from his hands and feet from a pole — a method reportedly called “chicken kebab” by his interrogators — the report read.

In May, Iran’s interior minister suggested that up to 225 people were killed during the November protests, when petrol pumps were torched, police stations attacked and shops looted.

A group of independent UN rights experts said in December that more than 400 people could have been killed in the crackdown, based on unconfirmed reports.

Iran blamed the violence that broke out during the protests on “thugs” backed by its foes the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Amnesty International: Iran Sexually Assaulted, Electrocuted Protesters

Breitbart News
https://www.breitbart.com/

Amnesty International revealed in a report published Wednesday that the Islamic regime of Iran kidnapped, disappeared, and tortured peaceful protesters following the November 2019 uprising. Survivors told the NGO that they experienced waterboarding, electrocution, and sexual violence.

Witnesses say among those tortured were children as young as ten years old. Many of the tortured were forced into offering false confessions and put on “trial” without access to a lawyer.

The extensive Amnesty report, titled, “Trampling Humanity: Mass Arrests, Disappearances, and Torture Since Iran’s 2019 November Protests,” confirms widespread reports in November and December of last year of Iranian police and military killing, torturing, and disappearing dissidents, particularly those of Kurdish and Turkic minorities. At the time, reports estimated that Iran killed as many as 100 civilians on the streets of multiple large cities.

“In response to nationwide protests in November 2019 by tens of thousands of people … the Iranian authorities waged a campaign of mass repression that led to hundreds of deaths,” Amnesty’s report relayed, “resulting from the deliberate use of lethal force, and to the arrest of more than 7,000 men, women and children as young as 10 years old within a matter of days.”

Iran whisked many of those its officers did not kill into unmarked vans, trapping them in torture facilities where they endured, among other things, beatings, sleep deprivation, waterboarding, sexual abuse, and electrocution, the report goes on to say. Some survivors say they were psychologically tortured, told they were about to be executed and forced to undergo “mock” executions or falsely told their friends and family were in the facility and also undergoing torture.

Among the torture techniques that Amnesty reported it had confirmed from primary sources in the report were “stripping detainees and spraying them with cold water, and subjecting detainees, including children, to extreme temperatures and/or bombardment of light or sound over a sustained period, forcible extraction of the nails from fingers or toes, pepper spraying, forced administration of chemical substances, electric shocks, waterboarding, and mock executions.”

“Interrogators and prison officials perpetrated sexual violence against male detainees, including through stripping and forced nakedness, invasive body searches intended to humiliate the victims, sustained sexual verbal abuse, pepper spraying the genital area, and administering electric shocks to the testicles,” the report continued.

Those injured in their arrest often did not have access to any medical attention, the report asserted.

“Most frequently,” Amnesty narrated, “victims recounted being hooded or blindfolded, punched, kicked, flogged, beaten with sticks, rubber hosepipes, batons and cables, suspended and/or forced into holding painful stress positions for prolonged periods, deprived of sufficient food and potable water, and placed in prolonged solitary confinement, sometimes for weeks or even months.”

The report stated that Amnesty International confirmed the arrests of over 500 people, both protesters and those simply known for being vocal about human rights in the country. Iranian officials allegedly used surveillance video to identify many in the protests and, on some occasions, intimidated their families.

At least three of the identified prisoners have received a death sentence in an unfair trial for crimes such as “enmity against God.” The NGO documented at least two known cases of minors subject to sexual abuse by authorities.

Amnesty International’s report quoted some of the survivors anonymously.

“My interrogators tortured me in all sorts of ways … They told me ‘If you die, it will be like a dog dying. It’s not important to us if you live or die.’ The pain was horrific,” the report quoted one of the victims as saying. “At one point, I was just wishing to die so that I would be free of the pain and torture. Human life is not important to them.”

Another described the electroshock torture in detail.

“The electric shocks were the worst form of torture for me. One of my interrogators would instruct the others to ‘tickle him a little,’ by which they meant to administer a low voltage shock. But this so-called ‘tickling’ felt like my entire body was being pierced with millions of needles,” the victim reportedly said. “If I refused to answer their questions, they would raise the voltage levels and give me stronger electric shocks. Each time I was given one of these stronger electric shocks, it felt like there was an earthquake in my body … I would shake violently and there would be a strong burning sensation coursing through my whole body… To this day, I have continued to be affected.”

Much of what Amnesty International detailed on Wednesday – with significantly more research and detail — echoes what local human rights organizations claimed was occurring at the time. In December 2019, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) published a report accusing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a U.S.-designated terrorist organization, of using sexual abuse to torture imprisoned dissidents. At the time, Iranian officials had moved from arresting protesters to arresting individuals for attending the funerals of protesters.

“After we were detained, they placed black bags over our head and forced us into a Peugeot 405, then took us to an unknown location. They kept us in rooms half a meter by half a meter wide. We could hear the screams of the other detainees being tortured at night, and the rooms were so small that we couldn’t stretch our legs,” one survivor said at the time, quoted in the KHRN report.

Throughout the early days of the November 2019 protests — triggered by a spike in gasoline prices exacerbating an already dire economic crisis — Iran shut down internet access nationwide, making it difficult for the international community to know what was happening inside the country. In late November, with internet restored, protesters and dissident groups began uploading harrowing videos of state massacres of protesters in Iranian cities.

At the time, the head of the IRGC, Major General Hossein Salami, insisted that Iran had “shown restraint” before the protesters, accusing them not of being discontented citizens but rather foreign agents working with America and Israel.

“We have shown patience towards the hostile moves of America, the Zionist regime, and Saudi Arabia against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said. “But we will destroy them if they cross our red lines.”

FOX News
https://www.foxnews.com/

The Iranian regime on Saturday executed a pro-wrestling champion despite global appeals to Tehran, including from President Trump, for the regime to spare the 27-year-old’s life.

Iranian state media IRNA reported that Navid Afkari, 27, was hanged Saturday morning in Adelabad prison in the city of Shiraz.

Afkari had participated in the mass protests against political repression in Iran last year, and it is believed the regime wanted to make an example of him because of his high profile in the country. Authorities accused Afkari of stabbing a water supply company employee in the southern city of Shiraz during the protests.

Courts in Shiraz had imposed two death sentences on Afkari, and six years and six months in prison and 74 lashes. One death sentence was imposed by a criminal court and one by a “revolutionary court.”

There had been appeals across the globe, including from FIFA, the World Players Association, dozens of human rights organizations. President Trump joined these calls.

“Hearing that Iran is looking to execute a great and popular wrestling star, 27-year-old Navid Afkarai, whose sole act was an anti-government demonstration on the streets,” Trump tweeted. “To the leaders of Iran, I would greatly appreciate if you would spare this young man’s life, and not execute him.”

Iran had broadcast Afkari’s confession last week, resembling a number of coerced confessions extracted from regime opponents over the last decade. Supporters of Afkari said he had been tortured.

In response to Trump’s tweet, Iran had responded with a state TV package of footage that included the employee Hassan Torkaman’s parents and footage of Afkari saying he had stabbed the man in the back.

Iranian opposition groups said the execution would only strengthen the resolve of the Iranian people to overthrow the theocratic regime.

“The people of Iran, especially the courageous youth, will not remain silent vis-à-vis the savage execution of this brave son of Shiraz and will rise up in solidarity with the heroic people of Fars Province over his unjust execution,” Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said in a statement, adding that the execution “will only add fuel to the flames of the Iranian people's uprising and will strengthen their determination to overthrow the clerical regime and to establish freedom and democracy.”

Rajavi also called on the United Nations, the European Union and other international organizations to take action against Iran in response to the killing.

“Silence and inaction are tantamount to a green light to, and complicity with, the regime to continue its atrocities,” she said.

Iran: 358 Protests in September

Iran Focus
https://www.iranfocus.com/en/

Image

There were 358 recorded protests across Iran in September, according to Iranian Resistance, which is an average of 12 protests a day.

The protests, which took place in 87 cities, show an 8% increase in the number of protests compared with the 331 that took place in August.

Most of the September protests were over economic grievances, featuring workers and pensioners demanding their missed payments, with some holding protests for several consecutive days and some traveling to Tehran to take their protest to the parliament.

September protest breakdown:

Workers: 217 protests in 58 cities
Pensioners: 26 protests in 18 cities
Teachers: 14 protests in three cities
Students: 11 protests in seven cities
Farmers: six protests in four cities
Prisoners: six protests and five hunger strikes in five cities
Defrauded creditors: four protests in three cities
Truck drivers: one protest
Other sectors: 78 protests in 37 cities

Even regime officials and state-run media are beginning to acknowledge that major protests are imminent, with Head of the Security and Law Enforcement Department Hossein Zolfaghar saying that calls for protests have increased three-fold in the past year and the state-run daily Ebtekar saying that the public doesn’t trust the regime.

The paper wrote: “It seems that for various reasons, Hassan Rouhani is distancing himself from the people and society. But he and his advisors do not mention that this could be the end of people’s trust toward the state. They do not realize what consequences this behavior could have… The president’s advisors who are well-experienced intelligence men” should take note of “what has happened since November 2019 until today.”

This was at the beginning of the month. By late September, the state-run media were warning that the people’s widespread mistrust of the mullahs would lead to nationwide protests because the regime was ignoring their demands.

Iranian political strategist Saeed Hajjarian even admitted that the people had a right not to trust the mullahs, pointing out that hatred of the clerics was a unifying factor for most Iranians. While regime-affiliated university professor Bijan Abdolkarimi said that the divide between the people and the mullahs was being exacerbated by officials who refuse to pay attention to public demands and that this would lead to regime overthrow.

He said: “We will definitely see more of [the November 2019 style] protests… I think the political power in the country has not been able to meet the people’s demands.”

It’s All Good

Guys

With Democrats stealing the election in US and Mullahs extending suppression in Iran waiting for Democrats to take over US to go back on appeasement, things have quiet down here. Looks like everyone is in coma and trans! Soon we will fire it up again. We have Islamists in Iran and Marxists in US suppressing freedom but we will fight both fronts. Mullahs are having a blast in Iran celebrating Democrats take over but Iranian people are depressed. Iranian people were waiting for Trump’s second term to finish off the Mullahs. Iranians must learn to fight their own battles and not to rely on Trump or America to free them from IRI. Iranians must reprogram and restart the protests, riots and armed struggle. Only Iranians can free Iran. We will soon regroup and get back to focusing on fighting the IRI regime.

Mullahs are thanking Allah for Democrats because they were suffocating under Trump!
Mullahs cannot rule forever, soon or late their time will be up.

At zero-hour, Mullah and Hezbollah exterminations will begin in Iran!

Would Love that sight!

Iran Confirms Top Nuclear Scientist Assassinated in Tehran

Breitbart News
https://www.breitbart.com/

Image

Iranian state media reported on Friday morning that top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated near the capital city of Tehran by unidentified “terrorists” after a fierce battle with his security team.

Fakhrizadeh was described as the “father of the Iranian bomb” in a famous 2018 presentation by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency quoted a statement from the Defense Ministry that said “armed terrorist elements” attacked Fakhrizadeh’s car on Friday, severely wounding him during a firefight with his bodyguards.

According to Tasnim, the injured nuclear scientist was taken to a hospital, where “efforts by the medial teams to resuscitate the Iranian scientist failed and he was martyred.”

Tasnim reported explosives were used in the attack and “a number of people have been killed in the incident,” possibly including relatives of Fakhrizadeh who were traveling with him.

Iran’s Fars news agency says the attack included “an explosion and machine gun fire.”

“Eyewitness accounts confirmed that Fakhrizadeh’s car came under attack first by a blast and then by two terrorist teams who sprayed bullets at his car as they moving in opposite directions. Eyewitnesses also said three to four individuals, most likely all terrorists, have been killed in the attack,” Fars reported, stating that at least two other dead bodies were spotted at the hospital.

Iran’s PressTV quoted Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif claiming there was evidence of Israeli involvement in the attack.

“Terrorists murdered an eminent Iranian scientist today. This cowardice – with serious indications of an Israeli role – shows the desperate warmongering of the perpetrators,” Zarif said on Twitter.

Iran's supreme leader vows revenge over slain scientist

Iranian leaders and authorities blame Israel for the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh

FOX News
https://www.foxnews.com/

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran's supreme leader on Saturday demanded the “definitive punishment” of those behind the killing of a scientist who led Tehran's disbanded military nuclear program, as the Islamic Republic blamed Israel for a slaying that has raised fears of reignited tensions across the Middle East.

After years of being in the shadows, the image of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh suddenly was to be seen everywhere in Iranian media, as his widow spoke on state television and officials publicly demanded revenge on Israel for the scientist's slaying.

Israel, long suspected of killing Iranian scientists a decade ago amid earlier tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program, has yet to comment on Fakhrizadeh's killing Friday. However, the attack bore the hallmarks of a carefully planned, military-style ambush, the likes of which Israel has been accused of conducting before.

https://a57.foxnews.com/static.foxnews. ... ?ve=1&tl=1
In this picture released by the official website of the office of the Iranian supreme leader, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, right, sits in a meeting with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran, Iran, Jan. 23, 2019. Fakhrizadeh, an Iranian scientist that Israel alleged led the Islamic Republic's military nuclear program until its disbanding in the early 2000s was killed in a targeted attack that saw gunmen use explosives and machine gun fire Friday Nov. 27, 2020, state television said. Two others are unidentified. (Office of the Iranian Supreme Leader via AP)

The attack has renewed fears of Iran striking back against the U.S., Israel's closest ally in the region, as it did earlier this year when a U.S. drone strike killed a top Iranian general. The U.S. military acknowledged moving an aircraft carrier back into the region, while an Iranian lawmaker suggested throwing out U.N. nuclear inspectors in response to the killing.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called Fakhrizadeh “the country’s prominent and distinguished nuclear and defensive scientist.” Khamenei, who has the final say on all matters of state, said Iran’s first priority after the killing was the “definitive punishment of the perpetrators and those who ordered it.” He did not elaborate.

Speaking earlier Saturday, President Hassan Rouhani blamed Israel for the killing.

(Fars News Agency via AP)

“We will respond to the assassination of Martyr Fakhrizadeh in a proper time,” Rouhani said. “The Iranian nation is smarter than falling into the trap of the Zionists. They are thinking to create chaos.”

Both Rouhani and Khamenei said that Fakhrizadeh’s death would not stop the nuclear program. Iran’s civilian atomic program has continued its experiments and now enriches a growing uranium stockpile up to 4.5% purity in response to the collapse of Iran's nuclear deal after the U.S.' 2018 withdrawal from the accord.

That's still far below weapons-grade levels of 90%, though experts warn Iran now has enough low-enriched uranium for at least two atomic bombs if it chose to pursue them.

Analysts have compared Fakhrizadeh to being on par with Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who led America's Manhattan Project in World War II that created the atom bomb.

(AP Photo/Vahid Salemi)

Fakhrizadeh headed Iran’s so-called AMAD program that Israel and the West have alleged was a military operation looking at the feasibility of building a nuclear weapon. The International Atomic Energy Agency says that “structured program” ended in 2003. Iran long has maintained its nuclear program is peaceful.

Fakhrizadeh's widow appeared unnamed on state television in a black chador, saying his death would spark a thousand others to take up his work.

Hard-line Iranian media has begun circulating memorial images showing Fakhrizadeh standing alongside a machine-gun-cradling likeness of Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani, whom the U.S. killed in the January drone strike.

Soleimani's death led to Iran retaliating with a ballistic missile barrage that injured dozens of American troops, but Tehran also has the support of proxy forces across the Mideast that it can call upon. The Iranian Guard's naval forces routinely shadow and have tense encounters with U.S. Navy forces in the Persian Gulf as well.

(AP Photo/Vahid Salemi)

Hours after the attack, the Pentagon announced it had brought the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier back into the Middle East, an unusual move as the carrier already spent months in the region. It cited the drawdown of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq as the reason for the decision, saying “it was prudent to have additional defensive capabilities in the region to meet any contingency.”

Iran has conducted attacks targeting Israeli interests abroad over the killing of its scientists, like in the case of the three Iranians recently freed in Thailand in exchange for a detained British-Australian academic.

Iran also could throw out inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency, who have provided an unprecedented, realtime look at Iran's nuclear program since the deal. Nasrollah Pezhmanfar, a hard-line lawmaker, said a statement calling to expel the “IAEA's spy inspections” could be read Sunday, the parliament's official website quoted him as saying.

Friday’s attack happened in Absard, a village just east of the capital that is a retreat for the country's elite. Iranian state television said an old truck with explosives hidden under a load of wood blew up near a sedan carrying Fakhrizadeh.

As Fakhrizadeh’s sedan stopped, at least five gunmen emerged and raked the car with rapid fire, the semiofficial Tasnim news agency said. The precision of the attack led to the suspicion of Israel's Mossad intelligence service being involved. The CIA separately declined to comment on the attack Saturday.

State media has only said the attack killed Fakhrizadeh, though a statement Saturday from the European Union described the incident as killing “an Iranian government official and several civilians.” EU officials did not respond to requests for comment.

In Tehran, a small group of hard-line protesters burned images of Trump and President-elect Joe Biden, who has said his administration will consider reentering Tehran's nuclear deal with world powers. And while burning an American and Israeli flag, the hard-liners criticized Iran's foreign minister who helped negotiate the nuclear deal, showing the challenge ahead of Tehran if officials chose to come back the accord.

Mohsen Fakhrizadeh: Iran blames Israel for killing top scientist

BBC
https://www.bbc.com/

Iran's president has blamed Israel for the killing of a top nuclear scientist on Friday, and said it would not slow down the country's nuclear programme.

Hassan Rouhani also said Iran would retaliate over Mohsen Fakhrizadeh's killing at a time of its choosing.

An Israeli cabinet minister said he had "no clue" who was behind the ambush by gunmen on Mr Fakhrizadeh's car.

Israel has previously accused the physicist of being key to a covert nuclear weapons programme.

Fakhrizadeh was Iran's most renowned nuclear scientist, who headed the ministry of defence's research and innovation organisation.

His killing threatens to escalate tensions over Iran's nuclear programme with the US and its close ally Israel.

How has Iran reacted?

President Rouhani said on Saturday his country would respond "in due course" but that Fakhrizadeh's killing would not push Iran into making hasty decisions.

"Iran's enemies should know that the people of Iran and officials are braver than to leave this criminal act unanswered," he said in a televised cabinet meeting.

"In due time, they will answer for this crime," he added.

In an earlier statement, the president accused the "the mercenaries of the oppressive Zionist regime" - referring to Israel - of being behind the attack.

"The assassination of martyr Fakhrizadeh shows our enemies' despair and the depth of their hatred... His martyrdom will not slow down our achievements."

Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also called for the "punishing" of the perpetrators of the attack "and those who commanded it", in a tweet on Saturday.

His military adviser, Hossein Dehghan, had earlier vowed to "strike" the attackers like thunder.

The New York Times quotes three US officials, including two intelligence officials, as saying Israel was behind the attack. But Israeli cabinet minister Tzachi Hanegbi said on Saturday that he had "no clue" who was behind the killing.

Fakhrizadeh's name was specifically mentioned in Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu's presentation about Iran's nuclear programme in April 2018.

Israeli embassies around the world have been placed on high alert, according to Israel's N12 news website on Saturday.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on the international community to "condemn this act of state terror".

What's the context?

News of the killing comes amid fresh concern about the increased amount of enriched uranium that Iran is producing. Enriched uranium is a vital component for both civil nuclear power generation and military nuclear weapons.

A 2015 deal with six world powers had placed limits on Iran's production of enriched uranium, but since US President Donald Trump abandoned the deal in 2018, Iran has been deliberately reneging on its agreements. However, it insists its nuclear programme is exclusively for peaceful purposes.

Joe Biden has pledged to re-engage with Iran when he becomes US president in January, despite long-standing opposition from Israel.

The former head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Brennan, said the killing of the scientist was a "criminal" and "highly reckless" act that risks inflaming conflict in the region.

In a series of tweets, he said Fakhrizadeh's death "risks lethal retaliation and a new round of regional conflict".

Mr Brennan added that he did not know "whether a foreign government authorised or carried out the murder of Fakhrizadeh".

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has urged restraint, while on Saturday a spokesman for Germany's foreign office called on all sides "to refrain from any steps that could lead to a further escalation of the situation".

"A few weeks before the new US administration takes office, it is important to preserve the scope for talks with Iran so that the dispute over Iran's nuclear programme can be resolved through negotiations," a statement said.

What happened to the scientist and why was he important?

Iran's defence ministry said the leading scientist was seriously wounded after attackers targeted his car and exchanged fire with his bodyguards, in the town of Absard, to the east of Tehran, on Friday.

Fakhrizadeh later died from his injuries in hospital.

It is not clear what happened to the perpetrators of the attack.

Fakhrizadeh has long been spoken about by Western security sources as extremely powerful and instrumental in Iran's nuclear programme.

According to secret documents obtained by Israel in 2018, he led a programme to create nuclear weapons.

At the time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he identified Fakhrizadeh as the head scientist in the programme, and urged people to "remember that name".

In 2015, the New York Times compared him to J Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who directed the Manhattan Project that during World War Two produced the first atomic weapons.

A professor of physics, Fakhrizadeh is said to have led Project Amad, the alleged covert programme that was established in 1989 to research the potential for building a nuclear bomb.

It was shut down in 2003, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), though Mr Netanyahu said the documents retrieved in 2018 showed Fakhrizadeh led a programme which secretly continued Project Amad's work.

The IAEA (the United Nations' nuclear watchdog) has long wanted to speak to him as part of its investigations into Iran's nuclear programme.

Suspicions that Iran was using the programme as a cover to develop a nuclear bomb prompted the EU, US and UN to impose crippling sanctions in 2010.

Since President Trump abandoned the 2015 deal, tensions between the US and Iran have escalated, peaking in January with America's assassination of Gen Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Quds force.
