Difference between the Iranian Protests of 2009 and 2017

Let us analyze the basic differences between the Iranian 2009 and the Iranian 2017 protests.

Iran 2009 Protests

Reformist Protests of the Green Movement
White Collar Protests

In 2009 protests were mostly in Tehran and few other large cities. In 2009 the protests started and enflamed by the wealthy reformist youth in the suburbs; mostly they wanted reforms not regime change.

Iran 2017 and 2018 Protests

Revolutionary Protests of the Workers
Blue Color Protests

In 2017 and 2018 protests started from the city of Mashhad (Iran’s 2nd largest city) and state of Khorasan (where its capital Mashhad is located). At next step, protests had spread to many large and small cities and finally they enflamed Tehran (capital). Today the protests are nationwide. In 2017 the protests started and enflamed by the workers, labors, unemployed, middle-class and lower-class people. These protests are working class blue color protests. The protestors wanted economical reforms and they protested against high prices of food and housing, corruption, unemployment, inflation and lack of freedoms. Primarily the protestors wanted economic reforms but due to the brutality of the regime, soon they switched to the demand for the regime change. Today the protestors want an end to the IRI Islamist Regime.

Iran Bad Hejab Girl
Iranian Girl took her hejab off her hair and hung it on a stick and waved it as a white peace flag on a Tehran intersection. Her anti hejab protest became the symbol of the Iranian women protests and the Iran Anti Regime Protests of the 2017 and 2018.

Iran Bad Hejab Girl
Her defiant act of anti hejab protest was watched worldwide. People on the intersection admired her and took photos. The photos went nationwide and global.

Iran Bad Hejab Girl Made a Stand
Persian Women Shall Always Defy the Arabo Islamic Hejab
No one knows her name and the police took her away. She was one of the first who enflamed the protests in Tehran. It is ironic that she protested Islam and the Islamic Regime by her act but she was not even a participant in the protests. Before she had a chance to participate in the later protests, the Islamic Moral Police took her away. The box where she stood is now a shrine! She became the symbol for the Anti Hejab, Anti Islam, Anti-Islamic Regime, Freedom Loving Persian Women. She started something that became nationwide.
