Reza Kahlili Biography
Reza Kahlili

Ex CIA Op / Author / Spy

I am a former Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corpsman in the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) of the IRI (Islamic Republic of Iran). During the 1980s and 1990s, I worked undercover as a CIA agent for several years inside the IRGC.

Reza Kahlili is my pseudonym. I grew up during the Imperial Era in Tehran, Iran. I am from a close-knit upper middle-class family. I grew up with my family and my two spirited boyhood friends. I was raised to think and act freely, and even indulge in rebellious pranks in the face of the local mullahs. My grandfather was a lover of the rich Iranian history; he admired Persian Shahanshahs (Emperors) and Shahs (Kings). My grandfather had monarchist tendencies and he was not a religious person. My grandmother was a religious person and encouraged me to study Islam and recite Namaz (Islamic Prayer). My parents were not religious. So practically except my grandmother who was my religious influence, I grew up in a secular family.

During the Shah’s era, in the early 1970s I went to United States of America for study. During the 1970s, my political and personal freedoms were flourished while I continued my higher education in the United States of America. In America while studying, I was introduced to the Confederation of the Iranian Students and the Islamic Assembly of the Iranian Students. Through them I was turned on to Anti Shah and Anti Imperial Regime rhetoric and books. I studied many books including Dr. Ali Shariati’s books in which he was propagating the so-called true progressive and revolutionary Islam (Moderate Islam) vs. the dark reactionary Islam of the clerics (Fundamentalist Islam).

I returned to Iran shortly after the Islamic Revolution, eager to help rebuild my country, honestly believing that freedom and democracy would prevail and lead my homeland into a glorious future.

Even though most Iranians had enjoyed varying degrees of success under the Shah, the Ayatollah Khomeini’s message resonated with a population weary of oppression and desperate for the political choice which was denied to them under the Shah. There was no political freedom in the Imperial Iran.

By the end of 1970s, due to the encouragement of one of my friends in Iran, I went back home and through this friend and others, I have joined the IRGC. Friends said we need your communication and computer skills in the IRGC and we could use you in the communication department of the IRGC. This is how I joined the IRGC Revolutionary Guards, an elite special force which served Khomeini.

Instead of finding a new beginning for my country, I discovered a tyrannical Ayatollah bent on plunging Iran into a dark age of religious fundamentalism and causing my fellow countrymen to turn on each other.

I have witnessed rape, torture and execution of 14 and 15 year old girls in the Evin Prison under the name of Allah (Islamic God) and Religion (Islam). People close to me got hurt in Iran and this made me to rethink about what was I doing in life?

Shaken to my very core after witnessing the atrocities at the Evin Prison, atrocities that hit very close to home, I was shattered, disillusioned and become a broken man. I have decided to do something to help to overthrow IRI. I did not know what, but I just had to do something!

I started a mission that would change my life forever. I have left Iran in the early 1980s. I returned to America and emerged as “Wally,” a spy for the CIA!

In the early 1980s through one of my friends, I managed to attain visa and return to America under the excuse and the impression of visiting and helping my ill aunt and my family.

I got in touch with FBI in LA (Los Angeles) and from there I contacted CIA. In my mind, I have joined the CIA to help overthrow the IRI Regime and to free Iran. Next, I went to UK for training at a CIA safe house.

Afterwards I went back to Iran and IRGC, until the end of the 1980s when I remained a CIA agent in Iran.
When I went back to Iran, someone in IRGC was suspicious of me and my activities. He had me on a close watch. If they would have caught me, then they would have arrested me and my whole family. Most likely they would have raped and tortured my wife in front of me and they would have raped and tortured me in front of my son. These are IRI counter intelligence tactics.

CIA needed information on the progress and expansion of the IRGC, Hezbollah, Al Jihad and other proxies of IRI, and I was providing this information for them.

Counterintelligence, coded communications, escape tactics and evasion, dominated my new life. I risked daily exposure and after several close calls, I managed to leave Iran.

There were times during my stay at UK which I worked as a double agent for IRGC and CIA. At the time, UK, France and Germany were IRI’s greatest trade partners. During this period I had come up on the various facts that in secret UK, France and Germany had an understanding with IRI and gave IRI the green light and a free hand to terror the Iranian opposition residing in their nations!

My CIA activities continued in Europe for a few more years before finally my family and I moved to America. Until the mid 1990s I worked for CIA.

After the 9/11 attack (2001), I activated a handful of sources within Iran and once again contacted the CIA. I continued my journey in search of a free Iran. I went back to CIA after the 9/11 and I am still in touch with my connections in IRGC.

Until this day, I have a continuous conscience problem about working for CIA. Back then I used to ask myself if I was betraying Iran or helping Iran? Eventually I convinced myself that I am betraying IRI and helping Iran. I just had to do something to help Iran and Iranians and to damage the IRI Regime.

IRI is a major threat to humanity. IRI has 2 nuclear bombs bought from the ex republics of the now dissolved USSR and in addition has enough enriched material to build at least 6 more nuclear bombs to install on the short, mid and long range rockets directed towards the Israel, US facilities in the Middle East and Europe. IRI is working to build EMP (Nuclear weapons which are the most devastating weapons with the maximum magnitude of destruction and loss of the human lives).

EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) is a burst of electromagnetic radiation. The abrupt pulse of electromagnetic radiation often results from certain types of high energy explosions, especially a nuclear explosion, or from a suddenly fluctuating magnetic field, resulting in rapidly-changing electric fields and magnetic fields which may couple with the electronic systems to produce damaging current and voltage surges.

In military terminology, a nuclear warhead detonated hundreds of miles above the Earth's surface (in atmosphere) is known as a HEMP (High-altitude Electro Magnetic Pulse) device. Effects of a HEMP device depend on a very large number of factors, including the altitude of the detonation, energy yield, gamma ray output, interactions with the Earth's magnetic field, and electromagnetic shielding of the targets.

This detonation can destroy all computer based and electronic devices, machines and equipments, and can practically cripple all facilities which empower us to continue life (energy, water, telephone, wireless, Internet, Automobiles, etc). This detonation can pollute the environment and kill millions of people through the period of a year.

I have written a book named “A Time to Betray” which is both autobiographical and historical. It is my memoirs and history of events throughout the decades of my life lived in Iran, Europe and America.

My book “A Time to Betray” have become a best seller.  “A Time to Betray” was announced the Winner of the 2011 International Book Awards in two categories of: Autobiography/Memoirs and Best New Non-Fiction. It was also honored as the “Finalist” in the Non-Fiction Narrative.

In addition, “A Time to Betray” was announced the Winner of the National Best Books 2010 Awards (category: Non-Fiction: Narrative). It was also honored as the “Finalist” in the “Autobiography/Memoirs” category.

I lecture at the U.S. Department of Defense’s Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy. A Time to Betray” is part of the JCITA’s (Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy of DOD) Iranian Program’s readings and also a part of the CI CENTRE: The Leader in Counterintelligence, Iranian Program’s readings, where I frequently lecture.

Astonishing double life of a CIA agent
Inside the Iranian IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps)

IRI is over three decades of crimes and cruelty against the humanity. Three decades of innocent lives lost. Three decades of a brutal regime destroying a historic country.

I’ve witnessed it all. Our women and men, young and old, put in front of firing squads, their families forced to pay for the bullets. Teenage girls raped before their execution, no longer virgins, thus denied entry to heaven. Boys and girls hanging lifeless from cranes because the regime believed their thoughts were harmful. Fathers wailing because they could not protect their sons. Mothers stoned to death because adultery was the only way they could provide for their children.

I have witnessed enough!

I was taught that Islam was the religion of love and honesty. I was taught that God was great and forgiving. The Islamic Government in Iran does not uphold these teachings. Instead, they kill and destroy in God’s name.

The people of Iran desperately want democracy and freedom. We need to listen to them — and we need to speak for them. Their voices are being suffocated inside prison walls the mullahs have built.

We are a nation. We are human beings. We deserve what every human being deserves.

Today I live in California. I write articles, I lecture, I propagate my goal and I struggle towards achieving my goal which is a free Iran. My desire is an end to the theocratic regime of the Mullahs and prosperity of my people.

Today I do not believe in Quran and Islam. I do not believe Quran is words of God, Allah is God and Muhammad was a true prophet.

I still believe that it is a shame for the Iranian opposition (outside and inside) to be so divided and distracted while the Iranian people inside Iran are living and suffering under the unbelievable conditions. West must support the Iranian opposition and the opposition must unite. I believe for the west to supporting the Iranian opposition is a better choice than to invade Iran, or at least I believe it is a better choice for the Iranians’ benefits.

If Iranians (inside and outside) do not unite, up-rise and overthrow IRI on their own (or with the help of the west), then dark days with hundreds of thousands of deaths and destruction will await Iran. I see a very dark future for Iran and Iranians unless they come to themselves, awake and take charge of their own destiny. People of every country are ultimately responsible for their own destiny. IRI lives because Iranians have allowed it to live!

Why am I an IPC author? I am an IPC Author because I believe in a free Iran from oppression of the theocratic regime of the Mullahs. I believe in democracy, human rights, equal rights, free speech and freedom for all the Iranians. IPC is a good vessel for me to get my experience and message across to the global Iranian and international community. It is my pleasure to be an IPC author.

My goal and desire is to see a free Iran or at least a free Iran for the future generation.

Long live Iran
