Astrology?

Postby Amir » Wed Oct 18, 2006 5:10 pm

Dear Ahreeman,

First, let me commend you on the good work you’re doing on the website.

However, if I also didn’t offer criticism where I feel it is deserved, I would not consider myself a friend.

Why do you have an Astrology section? Astrology is an archaic form of superstition. Astrology was one of the avenues that religion used to take hold of the world.

The belief that a person’s fate or behavior is ruled by the orientation of planets and other celestial objects is only slightly removed from the notion that human lives are under the watchful eye of a supreme God.

I know that someone like yourself doesn’t believe that mumbo jumbo any more than I do. Perhaps even though you don’t personally accept it, you feel you should provide this subject because others accept it. From my impression of what it is you are trying to build here, I would say that you are trying to promote the best for the site; not what’s popular. Astrology may draw in a lot of people for entertainment value, but I don’t believe it is in cohesion with the rest of IPC’s goals, as I understand them.

I agree that not all sections ought to be serious or intellectual. There is a benefit to having sections that offer purely entertainment value. Be that as it may, I think you could build a better section on entertainment via other routes than one affiliated with superstition.

You’re trying to build something better than what is offered by every other trend-following site that caters to popular culture, aren’t you? It is my opinion that Astrology is unworthy of inclusion in such a site. If you’re going to include Astrology, why not also throw in a section on psychic readings?

Leave Astrology for Ali Agha.

As a substitute for the Astrology section, why not include a section on science instead? You could provide links to scientific updates, articles, and journals.

Whether you choose to follow my suggestion to trash the Astrology section is your prerogative, and I’ll respect your decision regardless. But I thought I should provide my honest opinion with an outsider’s perspective.

Carry on the good work.

Thanks for the explanation. I had a hunch that this might be the reason. Very well. I can’t criticize the horoscope section any more, as your reason for it is acceptable.

I am satisfied with the answer you gave me, but I am not satisfied with the answer you gave L. I’ll explain why in that thread.

Notice Regarding Website Updates

Folks:

A number of you have been asking me or Webmistress through your E-mails and IMs that when did this or that article or book or graphics or section had been added to the site? How come you didn’t post a note in the club (forum)? How come you didn’t post a notice in the mailing list? How come…………?

Allow me to inform you and clear this issue right here.

If you want to know what is new on IPC Website, then I recommend for you to tune into the IPC Website once a while are read what’s new! This is how you can do it,

How to read and find out what’s new in IPC Website 101
Directions on how to get informed on what is new on the IPC Website:

Go to the Homepage

There are 3 columns on the page
a thin one on the left
a wide one in center
a thin one on the right

Did you get it?
3 that is!

1) There is a wide column in the center.
In this column all the new and updated mini posts/links to the books, articles, and other material are posted.

2) There is a thin column on the right side of the page.
Go half way down
You will see the title: “Updates”
Look under Updates and you will see all new sections, indexes and series.

So there you go, a piece of cake.

I am puzzled, isn’t this the way it is done on the net?
Why do you guys expect us to post a topic, a note or a post for every update of the site in the club?
Why do you guys expect us to send a notice in the mailing list for every update of the site?

I believe you guys are getting too lazy to even tune into the site to see what’s new!
Do you want me to chew your food and put it in your mouths too?

So here is my advice to your>

Are you an IPC Reader?
If so, then go to the damn site once a while and see what’s new and give us a break!

There is something, somewhere in some section getting added to the website practically everyday. And no, we will not send you an e-mail or post a post in the club and inform you about it!
What do you think this is?
Slavery was abolished by Lincoln!

Now once a while, I may post a very important update over here under this topic, but do not expect to get a post for every daily update!

I hope I have clarified and spelled it out for yours.

End of how to read and find out what’s new in IPC Website 101

And if you are still unclear, then I prescribe for you to take either your Vitamins (for energy)
... or Sulfat Do-Sud or Noshador for ……… :horseman:

so you will have alertness to punch in the IPC URL in your browser! Gooooosh! Just put the URL in your favorite places! Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus Chrisler, Holy Tolido, Holy Shiite, Gigantic Holy Lazy Asses………… :devprised:

Sincerely,

Dear Readers:

I want to add to the point which Ahreeman brought up. IPC Website has 42 sections. We are building the foundation of the largest Iranian Network on Internet. By next year IPC Networks will be the largest Iranian Network/Website on the Internet. If you expect us to inform you by e-mail or posts in club, about every daily update of the site, then we will have to hire one person to only send and post updates, and that’s not practical. I think you need to be practical and manually visit the site.

Yours,
Catayoun Razmjou
IPC Web Mistress
