Wednesday on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show,” host Megyn Kelly said that the Biden Administration’s scientists have lied long enough on the when and how the COVID pandemic started.

Kelly’s criticisms centered on EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak, a zoologist who worked with the Wuhan Institute of Virology and reportedly used U.S. government grants for gain-of-function research.

Kelly said, “Why wouldn’t the board investigate him? I mean, the obvious answer is because they were in on that because they knew, because they can’t fire Peter Daszak because they’ll go down with him. So who’s going to investigate the board? I don’t think they will get rid of him, right? If their hands are dirty, they’re not going to get rid of him. So what are our options? Because this guy clearly should not be staying in his post.”

Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin said, “Right. Again we can’t have the scientists policing the scientists. It doesn’t work. That’s what we should have learned from this pandemic. We can’t have Anthony Fauci overseeing Anthony Fauci. We can’t have Francis Collins overseeing Francis Collins. We can’t have the EcoHealth Alliance overseeing Peter Daszak because it doesn’t work. None of these organizations are self-correcting. The fact that it’s U.S. taxpayer money means that we actually do have an out here. Which is to get Congress and the administration involved because that’s your taxpayer money, my taxpayer money. And there’s no accountability. There’s no transparency, even in the biggest crisis in the world. The thing I was going to add to your list is that he actually coordinated the effort to call the lab leak theory a conspiracy theory as we know now by coordinating all those letters from the scientists — and put a chilling effect on the scientific community that is only thawing now, two years later. That is really what is going on. That is why the lab leak theory is so explosive, not because it implicates China, because it implicates us because we funded that research. It implicates our labs and our scientists and our heroes of the pandemic, including Fauci, who I’m sure was trying to prevent pandemics but is now helping to obscure the investigation into how we got into this pandemic.”

Referencing the COVID death of her son’s music teacher and her former Fox News colleague Janice Dean losing her in-laws, Kelly said, “Kids have died. Forgive me, but these f*ckers have lied to us for long enough, and we need to know the truth! We need to know … millions of people are dead, and Peter Daszak is allowed to get away with his lies. The Biden administration looks the other way. The information’s there if only we will push for it and demand it. And we have no assurances this won’t happen again. It’s infuriating to me. Infuriating. There’s just nothing we can do. And I don’t even know if we get another president in there, Josh, whether he or she would handle it differently because China’s got us so by the ‘you know what.'”

Rand Paul Grills Fauci on Gain-of-Function: You Changed the Definition to ‘Cover Your Ass’

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) grilled Dr. Anthony Fauci on Thursday over his refusal to admit the National Institutes of Health (NIH) was funding gain-of-function research, bluntly telling the chief White House medical adviser that the NIH changed the definition on the website “to try to cover your ass.”

During the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee hearing, Paul made it clear that he did not expect Fauci to admit that he approved gain-of-function research in Wuhan. However, he said Fauci’s repeated denials have “worn thin.”

“And a majority of Americans, frankly, don’t believe you,” he said.

“Even the NIH now admits that EcoHealth Alliance did perform experiments in Wuhan that created viruses not found in nature that actually did gain in lethality. The facts are clear,” Paul said. “The NIH did fund gain-of-function research in Wuhan despite your protestations.”

“You can deny it all you want but even the Chinese authors of the paper in their paper admit that viruses not found in nature were created and yes, they gained in infectivity,” he said, telling Fauci his “persistent denials” are “not simply a stain on your reputation but are a clear and present danger to the country and to the world.”

Paul said it matters, because such research could trigger an even worse pandemic in the future — one with a mortality rate significantly higher than the one percent seen now with the Chinese coronavirus.

Paul said:

They’re experimenting with viruses that have mortalities between 15 and 50 percent. Yes, our civilization could be at risk from one of these viruses. It’s incredibly risky. Experiments that combine unknown viruses with coronaviruses with as much as 15 percent mortality could endanger civilization as we know it. Yet here you sit, unwilling to accept any responsibility for the pandemic and unwilling to take steps to prevent gain of function research from possibly unleashing a deadly virus.

Despite knowing the risks, Paul said Fauci has continued to “mislead” the American public and support the research in Wuhan.

“You continue to say you trust the Chinese scientists. You appear to have learned nothing from this pandemic. Will you today finally take some responsibility for funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan?” he asked.

Fauci adamantly denied Paul’s accusations, calling gain-of-function a “nebulous term.”

“We have spent, not us but outside bodies, a considerable amount of effort to give a more precise definition to the type of research that is of concern that might lead to a dangerous situation. You are aware of that,” Fauci said before Paul interjected.

“We’re aware that you deleted gain-of-function to the NIH website,” Paul snapped as Fauci continued to beat around the bush, refusing to concede:

The guidelines are very, very clear, that you have to be dealing with a pathogen that clearly is shown and very likely to be highly transmissible in an uncontrollable way in humans and to have a high delve morel degree of morbidity and mortality, and you do experiments to enhance that, hence the word EPPP, enhanced pathogens —

That prompted Paul to ask about EcoHealth Alliance, which experimented with a virus and created one “that doesn’t exist in nature and it made mice sicker.”

“You’re saying that’s not gain-of-function research,” he said, blasting Fauci for changing the definition to cover his “ass.”

You’re simply saying it doesn’t exist because you changed the definition on the NIH website. This is terrible and you’re completely trying to escape the idea that we should do something about trying to prevent a pandemic from leaking from a lab. And what you’ve done is change the definition on your website to try to cover your ass, basically. That’s what you’ve done, you’ve changed the website to change the definition that doesn’t include the risky research that’s going on. Until you admit that it’s risky, we’re not going to get anywhere. You have to admit that this research was risky. The NIH has now rebuked them, your own agency has rebuked them. You’re still unwilling to admit that they gained in function when they say they became sicker. They gained in lethality. It’s a new virus. That’s not gain-of-function?

“According to the definition that is currently operable,” Fauci began, triggering a laugh from Paul.

Fauci continued:

You know, senator, let’s make it clear for the people who are listening. The current definition was done over — to three-year period by outside bodies including the NSABB, two conferences by the national academy of science, engineering, and medicine, on September 2014, March 2016. We commissioned external risk/benefit assessment on January of 2017. The office of science and technology policy, the White House, issued the current policy.

“Until you accept responsibly, we’re not going to get anywhere close to prevent another lab leak of this dangerous experiment. You won’t admit that it’s dangerous. And for that lack of judgment, I think it’s time that you resign,” Paul added, making the declaration straight to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Chief Medical Advisor’s face.

Beijing’s local education authority sternly warned doctors and parents this weekend not to force sick children to attend school or assign overly burdensome homework to children who are ill, a response to a surge in child hospitalizations and respiratory illnesses throughout China.

Beijing, Shanghai, and much of the Chinese northeast have been experiencing a dramatic increase in the number of diagnosed cases of pneumonia and hospitalizations of individuals diagnosed with respiratory disease in the past month. Those cases have increased particularly among children, compromising the communist state’s education system and challenging overpopulated local hospitals.

The Chinese Communist Party has attributed the rise in pneumonia cases to the spread of various known pathogens including viruses — such as influenza, adenovirus, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) — and mycoplasma pneumoniae, a bacterial infection. The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) claimed last week that Chinese authorities have not documented the presence of any novel pathogens, such as the Wuhan coronavirus that caused the pandemic of 2020, in those affected by the ongoing wave of disease.

The Chinese government propaganda outlet Global Times, citing regime-approved “experts,” conceded last week that the prevalence of severe respiratory disease among children in the country could be attributed to an “immunity gap” created by China’s “zero-Covid” policy of placing millions under house arrest, forcing thousands into torturous quarantine camps and essentially outlawing free association for nearly three years. Many of the children most severely affected by these illnesses were born during the lockdown era, the Global Times observed on Monday, so their immune systems have not been sufficiently exposed to certain diseases and their bodies are not prepared with sufficient antibody counts.



China ended its “zero-Covid” policy in late November 2022 in response to a wave of mass protests nationwide.

The rapid increase in the number of cases of sick children diagnosed with pneumonia has been so dramatic that the Beijing Municipal Education Commission (BMEC) is urging schools to prepare for “a smooth transition between online and offline teaching” to keep children from being in the same room.

“Thorough health monitoring for both teachers and students should be conducted to make sure that no one attends work or class while ill,” the Global Times paraphrased the BMEC’s warning.

“Schools should not issue any mandatory requirements for student homework during illness, and should treat student health as priority,” the communist education authority reportedly demanded.

“Online teaching,” “virtual schooling,” or “remote learning” are methods of education that became prevalent throughout the West during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic in which teachers interact with students via an online video link. The children then spend all day in front of a computer listening to their teachers, with no interaction with other students.



In the United States, virtual learning and lockdowns “erased two decades of progress in math and reading,” the far-left New York Times newspaper declared in September 2022, citing data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

“That is very alarming. It’s disturbing. But it’s not surprising, keeping in mind a year and a half ago over half of our schools were not open for full-time learning,” Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said in response to the report at the time. “In-person learning is where we need to focus. We need to double-down our efforts.”

Beijing’s education authority also felt it necessary this weekend to tell schools to “make student health the priority and not impose mandatory requirements on the assignments during their illness.”

In addition to the return of “online” teaching, the BMEC is demanding the return of the use of sanitary masks, “moderate” exercise in schools, and frequent hand-washing. The Communist Party began urging citizens to use sanitary masks again in early November, both to protect from the Wuhan coronavirus — which Chinese outlets mentioned only as a relatively minor threat compared to influenza and RSV this week — and mycoplasma pneumoniae.

“Currently, the top three respiratory diseases in children in Beijing are influenza, adenovirus, and respiratory syncytial virus,” the Global Times claimed.
The rise in respiratory disease cases has prompted the National Health Commission to order local Communist Party officials to invest in the development of more medical clinics to address demand.



“Efforts should be made to increase the number of relevant clinics and treatment areas, appropriately extend service hours and strengthen guarantees of drug supplies,” National Health Commission spokesperson Mi Feng said on Sunday, according to the German outlet Deutsche Welle.

The Global Times openly admitted to a lack of resources to aid families, quoting parents in reports throughout November, quoting anonymous parents who lamented that hospitals were “fully packed” and did not have the capacity to attend to their children. The lack of available clinics, particularly in the capital, is a source of embarrassment for a regime that three years ago published dazzling propaganda videos allegedly showing the rapid construction of “makeshift” hospitals in Wuhan and other high-population areas.

The letter, addressed to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, reads:

The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic (Select Subcommittee) is investigating the origins of COVID-19. Since April 2, 2020, Committee on Oversight and Accountability Republicans have investigated the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) role in obscuring the truth regarding the initial outbreak, and whether any U.S. taxpayer dollars funded the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s (WIV) dangerous gain-of-function research.’ On February 27, 2023 we wrote to the Department requesting information pertinent to this investigation.’

Pursuant to that letter, the Department recently produced classified documents to the Select Subcommittee that were previously released in an unclassified and highly redacted Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) production to U.S. Right to Know.? These documents contain highly pertinent information that credibly suggests:

1. COVID-19 originated from a lab-related accident in Wuhan, China;
2. The CCP acted to prevent, and in fact obstructed, a fulsome investigation into these matters; and
3. A seamless relationship between the WIV and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

The American people deserve to see the information that is hidden under these redactions.

We write to you today to request that you immediately take steps to declassify this information such that the American people have a more complete picture of the government’s evidence regarding the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To ensure that these documents are expeditiously reviewed for declassification, the highly redacted FOIA versions are enclosed. In addition to the rapid commencement of a declassification review, the Select Subcommittee requests a staff level briefing to occur before May 14, 2024.

This briefing was previously requested on April 24, 2024 with the goal of it occurring prior to the Select Subcommittee’s hearing with the President of EcoHealth Alliance, Inc.—and known WIV collaborator—Dr. Peter Daszak. However, the Department responded that it could not support a briefing on that timeline.

The Select Subcommittee is authorized to investigate “the origins of the Coronavirus pandemic, including but not limited to the Federal Government’s funding of gain-of function research” and “executive branch policies, deliberations, decisions, activities, and internal and external communications related to the coronavirus pandemic” under H. Res. 5.
